God, Save Us From Your Followers, a new documentary in search of truth

So I found this documentary called “God, Save Us From Your Followers”, which is an open minded look at the perception of Christianity in America and the reasons for the seemingly eternal conflict generated by a group supposedly devoted to peace and love.

Have a look at the trailer and tell me what you think. I may be posting the full version soon!

Tanto Blacks on Smile Jamaica

So I’ve been making a claim lately that this new Jamaican Dancehall artiste, Tanto Blacks is mentally challenged in some way and a few persons have disagreed.

He’s known for being very goofy and silly and persons subscribe to his antics seemingly just for the fun of it. Though I appreciate that,  I’m really not trying to be mean or have a laugh but I genuinely think he may have a slight mental disorder. Observing his mannerisms on stage and other places I can’t help but see a similarity with persons with down syndrome or autism. And I’ve been around persons like that all my life (family and friends) so perhaps I’m overly sensitive.

Anyways….watch and tell me what you think.

Did you notice the robotic emptiness on his face? How about his inability to process logical thought and the obvious blindness to direct insults?

Maybe he was on drugs like Simon suggested. But I see this in his general demeanor. IDK.

Video CV… this is where media is taking us. Simply Genius.

I recently came across a most spectacular phenomenon. Now, we’ve all made wild projections for the most outrageous practices we expect as we develop as Generation M. However, to actually see it in practice is always amazing. This PR practitioner, Graeme Anthony has actually turned his Curriculum Vitae into a video presentation.

Now, before you dismiss it as outrageous professional heresy, give it a look and try and wrap your mind around the possibility of the traditional things we’re used to being on pen and paper, actually being taken over by digital applications.

Now, that you’ve watched it, what are your thoughts?

Consider this: In a class once, a young lady stood to make a verbal presentation and used her blackberry for her notes. Using this device, she was able to move her hands more freely than with a bunch of papers, did not have to set up any bulky PowerPoint equipment and was able to keep us focused on her, without the distraction of some other obvious means of notation.

The teacher was adamant that this practice was not to be repeated. Bravely I asked why not and was quickly scolded and told this behavior was not professional.

Now, though I understand this is a far jump from the traditionally accepted paper and PowerPoint  my question remains….WHY NOT???

Your thoughts…..

Sadly, this is what passes for entertainment in Jamaica today.

Well this is just…unfortunate.

Island Xpressions: “Mathematically Mad”

One of my FAVORITE performers, Jihan Williams delivers this amazing piece at I-X that reflects the typical struggles of a young, professional woman in the 21st century, yet maintains that unique wit, native only to Jihan. I always enjoy her work. I actually call myself a fan. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Island Xpressions: “Getting Wet”

Ever so often, we have a more risque piece at I-X. This one is rife with heated sexual energy but remains classy and elegant all the same. Enjoy 😉

Island Xpressions (St. Kitts)

This is a very moving piece I found that was performed at Island Xpressions, a monthly poetry night in St. Kitts. The  poet offers a very interesting perspective on life ambition and what it means to ‘make something’ of oneself.

This pretty much sums up a lot of what I feel about most organized religion.

Behold the EPICNESS of the Deathly Hallows Trailer…

So here’s the trailer for the final two installments in the Harry Potter saga, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”.

As we all know, the producers have, in their infinite wisdom and wickedness, decided to split the last book into two movies, releasing one in November this year and the other in July of 2011. Sigh.

The trailer, of course embodies all of the excitement and anxiety that rabid fans like myself have fed off of all these years. As usual, I expect them to completely botch the story line, though I understand that the notion of fidelity especially to something as truly epic as Harry Potter is virtually impossible. As such, I’ve adapted to appreciating the trailers almost as much as the books, with the movies falling third on the scale.

Nevertheless, I anticipate November to bring that communal excitement and thrill we all enjoy, as we prepare ourselves for part one of the closure of the Harry Potter motion picture phenomenon.

Enjoy!
